Latin lavatera trimestris 'silver cup'
Silver Cup Lavatera has become a staple of cottage-like gardens. This two foot tall, bushy plant will be loaded with vibrant pink hollyhock-like flowers. The seemingly endless show of flowers is delivered throughout the summer until frost. Notoriously easy to grow and almost maintenance free makes this an excellent choice for the home garden.
Growing lavatera from seed is very easy and is best done by sowing directly. If you have short summers, you can start 4 weeks early but we recommend sowing into plantable peat or coir pots. Lavatera does not like transplanting. If directly sowing, wait until there is no risk of frost and soil has warmed. Space plants 12-18" apart and in direct sun for best results.
