Latin Cosmos bipinnatus & C. sulfureus
Early Sensation Mix is a wonderful blend of single flower cosmos. Pink, white and red are the dominant colours in this mixture. This reliable heirloom flower won the 1936 All American Selection award. The Sensation Mix is a wonderful option for the back row of any flower garden. The lacy branching of cosmos make them great to be mixed with other flowers in beds and borders. It will give a natural feel to any bed. Plant in sheltered areas or stake in areas of high wind.
Starting Cosmos from seed is incredibly easy. They can be directly sowed into the garden after last frost or started 4-6 weeks earlier. Seeds should be planted very shallow in growing medium (1/8"). Water medium well and ensure that moisture levels are kept consistent during the germination period of 3-14 days. Plant in full sun for best results. During the growing season, remove spent flowers regularly to extend and improve flowering period.
