Latin Monarda didyma
Perennial - Zone 4
Also known as Bergamot, Bee Balm and Horsemint this hardy Zone 4 perennial is a great addition to any perennial or flower garden. Panorama mix consists of vibrant pink, red, scarlet, salmon and violet flowers. These flowers are highly attractive to people as well as pollinators and will attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds to your garden. Can handle light shade and moist environments. Also great as a fragrant cut flower and potpourri addition.
Growing Monarda from seed is very easy. We recommend starting these ones early in a soilless mixture. Sow into a soilless mixture 7-9 weeks before last frost. Barely cover the seeds and water thoroughly. Maintain moisture during the 2 week germination period. Once last frost has passed, harden off and plant outside. Space plants 12-18" apart. They will spread over time to fill spaces. You can opt to directly sow this perennial after last frost as well but expect spottier germination.
