Mesclun is a French word that describes a mixture of small young salad greens. The mixture is often colourful and incredible tasty. Our unique blend has many components to it that all lend to an unmatched flavour profile. We have combined red and green lettuce, buttercrunch, iceberg and cos type lettuce, wild arugula, pak choi, hon tsai tai, kale, and brassica greens. Toss with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for the best and most nutritious salad.
Growing lettuce as a mesclun mix is terrifically easy. Sow directly into trays or pots. Space seeds approximately 1/2" apart as best as you can. You can begin harvesting after about 3 weeks. The best method for a continued harvest is multiple sowings every 2-3 weeks. If you harvest only the top half of the leaves, you can usually get a good second harvest out of that planting. Lettuce is best grown in the shoulder seasons as it is a cool weather crop. Place in full sun for best results.
