Latin Ipomoea sloteri

Cardinal Climber is a type of Morning Glory that offers a stunning display of trumpet shaped, crimson red flowers. It is actually a cross between the cypress vine and a scarlet morning glory that dates back to the 18th or 19th century. The luscious green foliage is emerald green and has a tropical, palm-like look to it. Has an aggressive growing nature to it, and will climb 10' in a given season without issue. With a high amount of nectar, these are a butterflies and hummingbirds favourite place to stop. Will bloom aggressively from mid-summer to frost. Great for poles, trellises and fences or anything it can climb.

Can be direct seeded if your climate has a long enough summer. Alternatively, start indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost. Remember to soak your seeds overnight for best germination results. Once the danger of frost has passed you can plant your developing vines into the garden. Plant in full sun and space plants 12" apart. Heirloom variety.

*Seeds are toxic if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
