Latin Catananche caerulea
Perennial - Zone 4
Cupids Dart Blue is a low maintenance perennial that is native to Europe. Cupids Dart has its place in flower gardens, along borders and cottage style beds. This hardy variety gives showy blossoms from mid-summer until frost. They are tremendously easy to grow and give beautiful cut flowers. The blue/lavender daisy-like flowers grow clusters about 24" tall. After flowering the remaining bracts are attractive as they are and will help with re-seeding if left. Dead heading can be done but leave a few to encourage re-seeding as this perennial doesn't have a long life.
Growing Cupid's Dart from seed is very easy. Can be started indoors 8-10 weeks before last frost or alternatively can be directly sowed in either spring or fall. This perennial will flower in its first season if well maintained. Plant in full sun. Hardy to Zone 4.
