Iceberg Lettuce, or crisphead lettuce, is one of the most popular lettuce varieties available today. Iceberg lettuce grows in a cabbage like habit that is best grown in cooler weather but with direct sunlight. The ideal way to grow it would be to start early so that you can harvest before it is too hot (hot weather stress can cause bitterness). If your climate allows you can succession plant so that you have a continuous supply of lettuce throughout the summer months.

Grow lettuce in rows and thin to at least 10" apart for best results. Lettuce can also be easily grown in containers if space is an issue. Lettuce is very sensitive to frost so ensure that any risk of frost has passed before planting into your garden.
