Latin lactuca sativa 'buttercrunch'

Buttercrunch Lettuce is one of the most heat tolerant varieties of butterhead lettuce and of all lettuce varieties in general. Loosely formed, medium green leaves are thick and juicy. Many people say that butterhead lettuce is the most flavourful variety. Lettuce is a rich source of Vitamin K, Vitamin A and a moderate source of iron and folate. Buttercrunch Lettuce will resist bolting but eventually the heat will get to this variety as well.

Direct seeding is possible but is best done if natural climate is cooler. Plan accordingly and plant earlier indoors to avoid the hottest of the summer months. Plant in rows and space plants by a minimum of 10" for best results. As with all varieties of lettuce, Buttercrunch can also be grown in containers. Heirloom variety. Matures in approximately 65 days.
