Latin cucurbita maxima

This naturally white pumpkin is a great way to add some spookiness to Halloween. Fun for kids and parents alike. The interior orange flesh is great for pies or other cooking as well. Start Indoors 3-4 weeks before last frost.  

Growing pumpkin from seed is very easy but they require a nice long season. In the prairies we suggest starting indoors in plantable peat or coir pots to get a head start. Pumpkins are monoecious which means that they have male and female flowers on the same plant. This means that they require pollination by insects (or by paint brush). We suggest that you avoid all use of broad spectrum insecticides during the flowering period. Keep moisture levels consistent throughout the growing period. Matures in 100 days.
