Latin lavendula angustifolia
Perennial - Zone 4 (with protection)
More dwarf and with a tighter growing habit than Munstead makes Hidcote Blue one of the most sought after lavender varieties for northern growing. This variety will often bloom in its first season. A great addition to any flower garden and doubles as a useful herb. Great fragrance fresh or dried.
Growing lavender from seed is relatively straight forward but can be a little longer than other seeds. Germination can take up to 30 days so maintaining moisture during this period is important. Starting 8-12 weeks before last frost, press seeds lightly into soil as light helps with germination. Once seedlings have developed, harden off before placing outside. Plant in full sun for best results.
