Latin Cosmos bipinnatus Xsenia
Cosmos are an eye catching specimen flower and winner of the 2018 Fleuroselect Novelty Award. The upright and tidy habit forms striking magenta, rose, and raspberry colored flower heads with a beautifully contrasting yellow center. The Xsenia variety of cosmos is more petite than others, growing only 18-24" tall. The strong uprights stems will surely give the front or middle row of your flower garden a stunning display. These also are great as cut flowers to brighten any room in your home.
Starting Cosmos from seed is incredibly easy. They can be directly sowed into the garden after last frost or started 4-6 weeks earlier. Seeds should be planted very shallow in growing medium (1/8"). Water medium well and ensure that moisture levels are kept consistent during the germination period of 3-10 days. Plant in full sun for best results. During the growing season, remove spent flowers regularly to extend and improve flowering period.
