Latin cosmos bipinnatus
The stunning Velouette Cosmos bears striped red and white flowers and elegant wispy green foliage. Makes a great middle or front row specimen in the flower bed. Cosmos can withstand high heat and poor soil conditions well. Makes excellent cut flowers and is highly attractive to pollinators.
Growing cosmos is very easy. Seeds can be directly sowed into the garden for ultimate ease but can also be started early for a head start on the season. If growing indoors, sow 1/4" deep into a soilless mixture and water in. Germination should occur with 5-10 days. Harden off before planting into a full sun location. If directly sowing, wait until the risk of frost has passed.
