Latin zea mays
A vigorous growing sweet corn that has shown tolerance to disease and high levels of stress. Kernels are sweet and tender. Ensure proper moisture during periods of drought for the highest performing growth. Irrigate if necessary. Plant multiple rows of corn or in clusters of 3-4 plants to ensure proper pollination and ear growth.
Growing corn from seed is very easy. Sow seeds directly into the garden once soil temperatures have reached 18 degrees Celsius. Sow 1/2" deep and 4-6" apart and thin to 8-12" apart once germination has occurred. Corn does not compete well with weeds so it is essential that you maintain a clean garden. Prior to planting, mix in a bone/blood meal mixture to provide adequate nutrients during growth. Water frequently and evenly to have the best results. Matures in 90 days.
