Latin a chillea millefolium
Perennial - Zone 3
This reliable perennial will bring a summer and fall boost of colour to your garden. This variety boasts vibrant pink flowers that stand 2-3' tall and looks best when grown in clusters. Flowers are great for drying and as cut flowers. Yarrow is a great option for dry areas as it is very drought tolerant and is an excellent choice for the maintenance free garden.
Growing yarrow is very easy but the seeds can be slower to germinate, especially when directly sown. Yarrow can also be started indoors 8-10 weeks before last frost. Seeds are very small and should be sown with little to no covering as they need light to germinate. Maintain moisture during germination period. Use a spray bottle to water during this period. Ensure that you 'harden' off all plants before placing them outside. Yarrow grows best when planted in full sun.
